Today is the 11th Anniversary of the launching of Lil Suzy's Paradise! We, the webmasters, would like to thank all of Lil Suzy's fans who have been loyal followers of the site over the years. Thanks for the support! We'd also like to thank Suzanne for supporting the site from the beginning and for being such a wonderful artist and friend.

We finally found a couple of early posts about LSP. Here are a few snippets...

(From the Original Lil Suzy's Paradise - 2001) I've been a fan of Lil Suzy's since 1992 when she released "Takeme in your arms" and I admire her for continuing to do and sing what sheloves best... Freestyle. Even when everyone says that freestyle is dead, LilSuzy proved that it wasn't to her and her fans. She continued to make the musicthat got her career started while other freestyle artists changed the type ofmusic they made to keep up with the mainstream. But Lil Suzy proved the people,who said freestyle was gone, wrong, by selling singles, getting her music onthe radio and continually releasing music. Justfor the record... I have still not seen Lil Suzy perform in person.

(Taken from an archive of Oct 2001 ) The reason I decided to create a Lil Suzy fan web site wasbecause I thought it wasn't fair that the internet is filled with hundreds offan web sites on singers whose music style is well known, yet artists whoperform freestyle still aren't getting the recognition they deserve. Freestylemusic and their artists have never been given the promotion they truly deserveand they are never given the chance to bring their music style to themainstream. There are still no "major music awards" that honorfreestyle music. It is still sort of hidden and "underground" the wayRap used to be. But Rap music now gets recognized and honored. Why doesn'tFreestyle?

So I decided it was only fair to create a fan web site thattributes someone who deserves the same kind of tribute, promotion, andrecognition that artists who perform other types of music receive. That's why Idecided to tribute Lil Suzy as an artist. Perhaps we can play a role in gettingher and freestyle music more into the eyes and ears of the mainstream. (Taken from an archive of Feb 2004) Myco-webmaster John was also a fan of Suzy's "Take Me In Your Arms" andremembers how big an impact that song made in the Bronx back in 1992. Together,we will always remember 1998 when Lil Suzy's music was there for us both at atime when we needed to escape. We will always have fond "Memories" ofthose times when her music made us forget the trials and tribulations of theeveryday.

Back in 2004, La' Entertainment set up Interactive Artist Interviews. These interviews were followed by questions from the La' Entertainment message board members and artists would then respond to the fans over a period of time.

On March 25, 2004, Lil Suzy took part in an exclusive La' Entertainment interview, which was conducted by Kazzeo. The interview was then followed by questions and comments by message board members, which Lil Suzy responded to during the entire month of April 2004.

K: First off, congratulations are in order as you recently became engaged as well as celebrated a birthday.

LS: Thank you so much. I’ve had a pretty exciting year so far.

K: I had a nice discussion with your manager and I have to make sure to hit all the points in this interview. With that in mind, let’s talk first about you being a performer since such a young age. You began performing at age 5. Looking back, do you feel that you may have missed out on any of the regular experiences kids go through while growing up due to your rehearsal / performance schedule?

LS: Oh no. Not at all. I was always in school during the week. And even now, my shows are usually on weekends. If you think about it, I do a lot of club dates and usually the only nights for those are Thursday, Friday, or Saturday nights. So I had a normal life in school. I had all my friends. I did normal teenage girl things. And I did my shows on the weekends. I got see all of the United States, Mexico, and Canada. It’s been pretty fulfilling. I’ve had a great life so far.

K: I know you have a very strong following in Canada. Tell me about the vibe and the energy out there as far as doing shows and appearances.

LS: Oh I love it. I absolutely love it. I love radio out there. In general, it’s very Dance oriented. Very European influenced. The play a lot of stuff long before we get it here in the U.S. I love that kind of stuff. I also like their kind of Freestyle because, as I said, it’s very European influenced. It’s different than what we have here. As far as the crowds, they are always great. The clubs are gorgeous. They’re huge. They’re unbelievable. I just love it there.

Lil Suzy's Paradise: 10 YEARS!

Hey Lil Suzy fans! Today marks the 10th Anniversary since the creation and launching of Lil Suzy's Paradise! Wow, we can't believe that it's been ten years! We designed the original site in the fall/winter of 2000 and launched the website as a fansite to Lil Suzy on January 8th, 2001. The response to the site was very positive and supportive and a few years later Lil Suzy decided to utilize the fansite as her official website. From then on, we became her official webmasters of her online presence.

This site has had many incarnations over the years and we wrote about that in last year's 9th Anniversary post. Last year, we also wrote how creating this fansite led us to great little opportunities that we never thought possible. For a little more history on the website you can read last year's anniversary post, which also contains screenshots of all the many past 'looks' of the website.

For the 10th Anniversary we wanted to share something that we had written on the original fansite from 2001. We had it in mind to post it here, but unfortunately after alot of searching, we couldn't find the write up. Back then, we had written about the reason we created the fansite for Lil Suzy. So being that the writings from the original site are stuck in an old web design software that we can't seem to open up, we have recreated (from memory) what we wrote way back when, along with the origin of LSP.

The reason we decided to create a fansite for Lil Suzy was because Freddy (webmaster) had it in his mind to create a fan website for a music artist. He thought Madonna? Britney? Nah, they had dozens of fan sites already. (FYI - Eventually we created an extremely short lived dual fan site in fall 2001 called "MadonnaBritney" but we took it offline because of the negative response from a few of their fans). Okay, so in Freddy's mind, he went through all of his favorites music artists. Most of them had official sites and fan sites and it wouldn't matter to anyone if he created another. He really wanted to create a website for someone who didn't have a website and deserved one. Lil Suzy immediately came to his mind. Being a really big fan of Lil Suzy, Freddy was constantly searching online for information in regards to Lil Suzy and only found limited information that was scattered about on various Freesytle music sites of the time. He realized that Lil Suzy didn't have a website to call her own and felt that she deserved one just as much as any other artist. At that time, there were only very few Freestyle artists who had official websites, least of all fansites. Freddy talked about it with John, who was also a fan, and together they decided to design the first incarnation of Lil Suzy's Paradise.

We felt that Lil Suzy, and Freestyle music in general, deserved the same type of online promotion that mainstream music genres and their artists were given. Rap music and their artists became mainstream and we felt that the Freestyle genre and their artists deserved the same type of recognition and acknowledgment. If rap music (which was once an underground urban music genre like that of Freestyle) was now just as mainstream as pop music, why wasn't Freestyle given the same chance? It all seemed to come down to promotion. We questioned why Freestyle wasn't acknowledged in mainstream awards shows and benefits and we felt that it just wasn't fair. We felt that by creating a fan website for Lil Suzy, it would help promote her and at the same time promote the Freestyle music genre.

The above basically captures the gist of what we wrote back in 2001 on the reason we created the site. Creating a website for Lil Suzy has definitely been a positive experience. We created a fansite where Lil Suzy fans would be able to find out where she was performing, read about her career and get the latest updates. We even created a messageboard where fans could leave her comments and she'd occasionally respond. This was years before the days of facebook, myspace and twitter comments. After we launched the site, we emailed Suzanne at her personal aol homepage at the time to let her know of our creation. When she wrote back that February, we were very excited and honored that she responded! For the first time, we'd like to share that email with you. Below is the first email Lil Suzy wrote in regards to the website in 2001. It was originally in purple fonts of course! Below that, is another email we saved from 2002. Click to enlarge.

From day one, fans immediately complimented the website and thanked us because they too had been searching for a full site on Lil Suzy. Some fans even wrote to us thinking we knew Lil Suzy personally. Tell her this, tell her that, some would say. At that time, we hadn't yet met her in person and we honestly never thought we would! Like we said in last year's anniversary post, we never in our wildest dreams thought we'd eventually be buddies! That's not why we created the website for her. Most people who create fansites for celebrities never think that they're ever going to meet the person they created the site for, least of all us. Before we met Lil Suzy, one fan who has become one of our favorite online buddies (Hi Veronica Morales!) was even nice enough to ask Lil Suzy for an autograph for us at one of her shows in Chicago. We believe it was at the Chromium Nightclub show. Receiving that autographed photo in the mail (along with photos of the show) was a really great surprise!

Looking back, we're very glad that we created Lil Suzy's Paradise. It has kept Lil Suzy in touch with her fans and we have also met great new friends because of it. We remember it all started when Freddy's father gave him a new photo scanner that came with a web design software. That free software got Freddy's web design juices flowing and that, in turn, got John's web design juices flowing as well. It was fate! The end result was Lil Suzy's Paradise, a place where fans could learn more about the freestyle diva and show their love and support for her. The site has certainly evolved over the years. The current site is now more in the vein of a website/blog, which allows us a faster way to post updates. Realizing that the website was reaching it's 10th Anniversary, we redesigned the look and feel of LSP last November and it's most certain not to be the last time. No matter what the style of the website, one thing has always remained - The fans. You guys have been loyal from day one, not only to LSP, but to Lil Suzy herself.

We'd like to thank all of Lil Suzy's fans for supporting the site and Lil Suzy over the past ten years. That sounds crazy to say "ten"! We really appreciate the support of her loyal fans and we know that she does too. It means alot to us all. We thank you all for visiting and for your kind words over the years. We also want to thank Suzanne for being the great freestyle and dance artist that she is, and also for being a down to earth friend! We are so happy that we chose you to create a website for. You have become a great friend who has been there for us and we love you! Remember to never stop reaching for the stars Suzanneee!

A Refreshed Myspace Page Anyone?

You all remember myspace don't you? No? It was that place where everyone visited before facebook took over of the general population. Did we refresh your memories? Okay. With everyone deleting their myspace pages and heading over to facebook, we posted a quick status inviting all of the myspacers to join Lil Suzy's facebook fan page. As everyone knows, Lil Suzy frequents her facebook fan page on a regular basis and not so much myspace. But we'll still be updating all things 'Lil Suzy' to myspace, so it will remain open even though everyone is leaving one by one.

So being that it will remain, we just updated Lil Suzy's Myspace Page with a new look. Anyway, you all know that purple is Lil Suzy's favorite color, so the page has all different shades of purple going on and the page itself is a little more organized. Gone are the annoying 'glitter graphics' that took the page forever to load. It was a mess at first, because we had to figure out how to fix everything due to myspace totally changing, but we did it. It's more streamlined and easy to navigate. Hope those of you who are still on myspace like it. Hope you're all having a great week!

At times, we (her webmasters) update her fb status or we'll share a tweet to guide her fans to something on the website. From now on, we'll be ending the posts with a little signature stamp. Lil Suzy's Paradise: NINE YEARS!

Hey everyone!

Today marks the 9th Anniversary of Lil Suzy's Paradise, the website of Lil Suzy! The site was launched on Janauary 8th, 2001 as a fansite, and eventually became Lil Suzy's official site.

Back in 2001, myspace, facebook and all of the other social sites that now occupy most music artists internet presences, were a thing of the future. The only place where one could get the 'goods' on their favorite artists were on official websites or fansites. The great response we received by many of Lil Suzy's fans on this new fan site came as no surprise as it was the only place on the internet where one could catch up with their favorite freestyle diva at the time. Now we have the myspaces, the facebooks, the twitters, the this that and the other thing on the internet, but back then, we were it.

The site has changed dramatically over the years. It started as a small little fan site with a few pages tributing Lil Suzy to being chocked full of pages containing everything anyone would ever need to know about her. From lyrics, wallpapers, banners and photos, it became your one stop Lil Suzy destination and was wall to wall Suzy. If you have followed the site over the past nine years, you were certainly 'in the know' when it came down to Lil Suzy (the artist) and Suzanne (the person). Everything from Lil Suzy's latest news, music, photos and performances, to Suzanne's engagement, wedding and babies were covered. Last year we changed our url address (again) and re-created the site to make it easier to 'post', giving fans the latest in everything 'Lil Suzy' at a quicker pace.

We can't believe it's been nine years since the creation of Lil Suzy's Paradise. It was truly an honor when Lil Suzy decided to make this little fan site, her official website. Never in a million years, when creating the site in the fall/winter of 2000, would we have thought that Lil Suzy would want the site to be 'official' ! And never in our thoughts or dreams did we even think we'd ever have the pleasure to meet her or even become buddies! That being a great honor! Because of this site and Lil Suzy, we have had the pleasure of meeting many great people (online and off), some who have also become buddies. One of those people being Angel (the Original Cover Girl), which resulted in us creating a little fan site (Angel's Place which became CoverGirlAngel.com) for her as well!

Lots of great little opportunites have surfaced because of what was once just a little fan site. Who would have thought that we'd ever design the cover art for Suzanne's digital single "Dance Tonight"! That was a great surprise because initially we only designed the cover and ads to promote the song on her myspace. We then emailed the artwork to Lil Suzy and her manager Latif, so they could see what we were going to post on myspace, and so her manager could use it for his sites as well. In the meantime, the artwork became our design for the newly revamped Lil Suzy's Paradise. Then to our pleasant surprise, Lil Suzy emailed us and told us that she decided to use the artwork as the cover art for the song for its online release on itunes, amazon etc! That was really exciting because our work was now on online music store sites! We were and still are very flattered and honored to have our design be a part of Lil Suzy's Discography. Thanks Suzanne!

We'd also like to thank Suzanne for all of the compliments on the site over the years (we do it for you babe!) and for being such a sweet person! You're the best! We'd also like to thank all of her fans for all of the great things you have said about the site in the past and of course for always supporting our girl.

Lil Suzy is also thankful for each and everyone of you for all of your loyal love and support over the years and support of the site! She loves her fans very much!

A screenshot of the original design from 2001 was never taken, so the one above is an incomplete recreation of what it looked like. That is why the page is mostly blank. When we designed this, we had never created a website before and learned how as we went along. We also had no clue that purple was Lil Suzy's favorite color! A few of the other 'early' short lived designs from 2001 were never 'screenshot' so they are gone forever. But most of the site designs are below. There was one short lived design where the 'News' page title was 'Eye on Suzy News and Updates' lol.

A newly revamped blog style site that is easier to manage, maintain and update! Complete with our "Dance Tonight" color scheme :) Hey, where's that purple?! It's on hiatus. lol
